Floyd speaks during Constitution Week
Harriet Elvington Enzor, treasurer of the Drowning Creek Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, introduces Tiffany Lyn Floyd, to a community assembly at the Nichols Baptist Church social hall. Floyd’s address to the group focused on the observance of Constitution Week in Nichols. Floyd is the daughter of Jennifer Small Floyd and Johnny Ray Floyd of Nichols.

Gladys Pee, a daughter of Minnie B. Crawford of Rains and the late Hayvern Crawford, graduated from Webster University with a Master of Arts in Counseling degree on Oct. 12. She is married to James F. Pee and is the mother of Luke Brunson Jr., Delora Vereen, Amber Eaddy and grandmother of seven. Pee is employed as a school-based counselor at Johnakin Middle School and is pursuing her LPC licenses.

Johnson honored for driving skills
Randy Johnson was recognized for 10 years of safe driving with FedEx Ground in Florence on Oct. 9. Johnson, a resident of Marion, achieving 10 years of safe driving without a preventable accident.
FedEx Ground is the small-package ground delivery service of FedEx Corp. Johnson has been a professional truck driver for 10 years with the company and works out of the company’s Marion facility.
FedEx Ground Independent Contractors are among the most highly skilled in the industry, and the fact that Randy has reached this important milestone shows his commitment to making the nation’s roads safer for everyone,” said Steve Johnston, managing director, Carolinas Region for FedEx Ground.

Thomas to travel to China
Ron Thomas, a former resident of Marion, has been selected to travel to China as part of a delegation of senior level human resources executives.
This delegation of professionals specializing in human resource management will participate in bilateral exchanges with their professional counterparts in China, under the auspices of People to People Ambassador Programs. The group will represent the Society of Human Resources Management.
Thomas is the President and CEO of his own consulting firm, which provides HR strategy consulting to companies in the US and Europe. He was formerly Vice President of Organizational Development at Martha Stewart Living in New York City.
His topic during the China trip will be Talent Management Strategy. At an upcoming conference dealing with the layoffs on Wall Street, he will present the topic, “Managing Talent in a Turbulent Economy." He will be one of the guest speakers at a Global HR Symposium to be in Europe in February 2009.
Thomas is a former resident of Marion and graduate of Johnakin High School. He is a graduate of Benedict College and New York University and is the son of the late Daniel (Big Chief) and Georgia Thomas of Marion.
