Rachel Lynn Gainey of Hartsville and Christopher Stephen Ham of Columbia were married on Oct. 11, 2008, at 3 p.m. at Piney Plain Freewill Baptist Church. The Rev. William Griggs performed the ceremony. A reception was held at Coker College Boat House
.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Edward Gainey of Hartsville. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mary Jane Gainey and the late Jessie “Buddy” Gainey of Hartsville and Mrs. Gladys Gainey of Patrick and James Calvin “JC” Gainey of Hartsville.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen D. Ham of Columbia. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carson Allison Ham Sr. of Camden and Mrs. Margaret Mertz and the late Roy F. Mertz of Camden.

Music was provided by Robert Taylor, who played “The Wedding March” on the steele guitar. Robert Mitchell and Kelly Gainey sang a duet of “It’s Your Love,” and Steve Taylor sang “I Cross My Heart.”

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white satin A-line gown with side draping, sweetheart neckline with beaded bodice and a chapel train. She carried a bouquet of white roses adorned with azalea and white lilies.

The bride’s attendants wore full-length azalea-colored satin gowns and carried white and azalea silk flowers made by the bride’s grandmother, Mary Jane Gainey.

Maid of honor was Kelly Gainey of Hartsville, sister of the bride. Matron of honor was Elizabeth Ulloa of Columbia, sister of the groom.
Bridesmaids were Katie Wallace and Andie Moore of Hartsville, cousin of the bride.

Flower girl was Baylee Moore, cousin of the bride. Ring bearer was Cody Keith of Hartsville.

Best man was Stephen D. Ham of Columbia.

Groomsmen were Mike Ulloa of Columbia, brother-in-law of the groom, and Bill Bruner of Columbia, cousin of the bride.
The wedding greeters were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ewing of Hartsville.

The bride is a graduate of Eastside Christian Academy. The bridegroom is a graduate of Spring Valley High School and the University of South Carolina. He is employed with W. P. Law in Columbia.

After a wedding trip to Charleston and Myrtle Beach, the couple will live in Columbia.
