Relay For Life of Darlington County will kick off the 2009 season on Tuesday, Nov. 18. The event will be held at the Lakeview Club, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The 2009 theme is “Relay Rodeo.”
The committee is planning for a special night.
John and Chanda Helms will be performing. Barbecue is being prepared by Ed and Barbara McKenzie. Emcee and magic man Chuck Miller will be on hand.
During the 2008 season Darlington County raised more than $185,000 with an estimated $152,000 coming directly back to Darlington County residents through programs and services.
“As ambassadors of the American Cancer Society we are asked how our donor dollars are spent and how much of that money comes back
to Darlington County,” said Beth Johnson, American Cancer Society community income manager for Clarendon, Darlington, Lee and Sumter counties. “I usually tell you it is almost impossible to put a dollar amount on how much money flows into Darlington County from the American Cancer Society and that is very true, however; thanks to the help of Janie Smith, American Cancer Society Mission Partner, we are now able to give you a very
soft estimate of the money that is being given back to Darlington County.”
