On Friday night, local business owner Oneida Martin will do what she loves best – sing. Her husband, Jeff Martin, Stacie Severance and Kelly Acorn, will join her on stage at the Center Theater.
The newly formed group, which doesn’t even have a name yet, will be performing Friday night. The doors open at 6 p.m., and the concert begins at 7 p.m. The group will be singing old country favorites made famous by Patsy Cline and new country hits by such artists as American Idol winner Carrie Underwood and Martina McBride.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Tickets are available at Southern Candy Kitchen, 106 E. Carolina Ave., and Burry Bookstore, 130 W. Carolina Ave.
Martin said, “This all started because I did Patsy Cline and had such a great response. I want to mix the old with some new country songs.”
Martin, owner of Southern Candy Kitchen, has performed on several productions with the Florence Little Theater. One of her favorite roles was that of Patsy Cline in “Always Patsy Cline.”
Martin said she enjoyed singing the songs and began working on those and other currently popular country music songs. She, Jeff and Kelly performed for Valentine’s in Darlington.
“We all have a love for country music,” Martin said.
She and her husband recently moved to Hartsville, and Martin said she is happy to bring entertainment to downtown Hartsville to benefit the Hartsville Downtown Development Association.
“I am excited about being part of the community,” she said.
Martin said she has put her theater interest on the back burner for now; however, her husband is up for an award for his role in “Thoroughly Modern Millie” at Florence Little Theater’s Awards Night.
