“Keeping Pee Dee Kids Safe at Home” is a community awareness project sponsored by Prevent Child Abuse Pee Dee, a program of Pee Dee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Assault.
The project is designed to focus on the prevention of the maltreatment of children ages 0-3 and the goal of an upcoming forum is to increase the community’s understanding of its role in the prevention of child maltreatment by focusing on education based on five protective factors for promoting strong families. A "networking forum," the forum is open to service providers and individuals from the community and service agencies from Florence, Darlington, Marion and Dillon Counties.
The forum is also open to counselors, youth leaders and others interested in the safety and welfare of children. The goal of the forum is to bring representatives together in an effort to share information and express what services are available to children in our community.
The forum will be in Florence, beginning at 10 a.m., on Dec. 8 at St. John’s Episcopal Church Library, 252 S. Dargan Street. Parking is in the parking lot facing Cheves Street. For information, contact forum coordinators Janice Saulters, prevention coordinator for Prevent Child Abuse Pee Dee, (843) 669-4694; or LaShana Shannon, early interventionist with DSN, at lshannon@fcdsn.org.
