»  Comments | Post a Comment

Local doctors are expected to request human testing of mercury by the state health department.  According to the Conservation Voters of South Carolina, the mercury threats in the Pee Dee area rivers has led some Florence doctors to ask DHEC to test humans for mercury contamination.  According to the group's press release, DHEC has stated that the agency will not begin testing without a formal request from a physician.

The press conference is scheduled for 12:15pm at the DHEC offices located at 145 East Cheves Street, Florence, SC.  News 13 and scnow.com will have a crew at the event and will update this story as soon as possible.
