Columbia Museum of Art announces the Contemporaries' 4th Annual Spring Oyster Roast on Boyd Plaza Tuesday, March 29, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Entry to the event is only $10 and free for Contemporaries members and includes live music by Pinna, oysters and beer. In the event of rain, the oyster roast will be rescheduled. Attendees can purchase Contemporaries membership and tickets to the Contemporaries' Artist of the Year Soirée and Silent Auction on May 5.
The Contemporaries' annual oyster roast is an example of the many activities, programming and events offered to its members and the community throughout the year.The Contemporaries are an affiliate membership group of the Columbia Museum of Art comprised of more than 350 young professionals from the Midlands. The mission of the Contemporaries is to provide an opportunity to support the Museum and its goals, diversify the Museum's membership, and lead the next generation of Museum supporters. Each year, the Contemporaries host a series of social and cultural events geared toward the young professional with an interest in the arts. A portion of the proceeds from Contemporaries' events is used to purchase art for the Museum's collection. The Contemporaries' newly commissioned Dale Chihuly glass chandelier is on view in the Museum's David Wallace Robinson Jr. Atrium.
