MURRELLS INLET, SC----If the sounds of music are a few of your favorite things, don't miss "A Von Trapp Christmas," Sunday, December 13, 2009, at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet, SC. Featuring the incomparable stylings of Elisabeth von Trapp, granddaughter of Baron and Maria von Trapp made famous by The Sound of Music, you will be treated to festive music from around the world, just in time for the holidays. The concert begins at 6:00p.m., and limited general seating tickets are available for $10.00 each.
For Elisabeth von Trapp, the sounds of Christmas music are part of her earliest memories. Whether they were from the Baroque instruments and four-part harmonies of the family choir, the legendary Trapp Family Singers, or carols played on the diverse collection of musical instruments in the living room during the Christmas season, music was always present.
"We sang at church, school programs, special community events and weddings. None of these occasions, however, compared to the Advent season before Christmas, when the house was filled with friends and relatives, and our farmhouse seemed to overflow with music," says von Trapp.
"A Von Trapp Christmas" contains a collection of carols and songs that, for years, have helped her pause and listen, recalling the meaning of the first Christmas. You'll be mesmerized by timeless ballads and traditional holiday music, as well as Austrian, English and French carols as only Elisabeth can deliver. She also shares heartwarming stories of Christmas in the Von Trapp household, plus the folkways of their native Austria. During this holiday performance, she is joined by her long-time musical colleague, Erich Kory, enhancing the performance with the stirring sounds of the cello.
