The Hartsville Chamber Ensemble, beginning its fourth season, was organized in the summer of 2006 by a group of Hartsville area musicians who were willing to make a commitment to undertake a challenging repertoire of vocal music. The group is bound together by its love of singing and dedication to performing at a level of artistry achieved only by many hours of rehearsal. Under the direction of Anna White Hill, the ensemble strives to deliver a seamlessly blended sound while singing music from a wide variety of genres in hopes of speaking to the hearts of its audience. Singers are sopranos, Sharman Poplava and Holly Prescott; altos, Candace Holcombe and Vicki Norment; tenors, Robert Jones and Pat Youngblood; basses, Dave Godshalk and Terry Poplava; and accompanist Kim Roberts.
