Christmas with Children and Brass” will be presented by the Hartsville Civic Chorale on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Hartsville under the direction of Dr. James Beaumier.
The Civic Chorale will be joined by the Hartsville Children’s Chorale directed by Echo-Leigh Macdonald and a brass ensemble led by Roger Simpson.
Including masterpieces from the Renaissance and Baroque era by Bach, Praetorius and Dufay with brass accompaniment, Beaumier has chosen a varied program of cherished Christmas selections. The program also includes many traditional carols to be sung by the Chorale often with audience participation. Contemporary selections include the always popular “Ukrainian Bell Carol” and a contemporary work by Morten Lauridsen.
Macdonald has selected traditional carols for the Children’s Chorale also including a sing-a-long of “Deck the Hall” for everyone and of course, the Children’s Chorale will be singing with the adults on several selections.
Beaumier is serving in his 20th season as director of the Chorale and in his 21st year as director of music at Wesley United Methodist Church. Beaumier is currently chorus director and department chair at Hartsville High School and also teaches music in the International Baccalaureate program.
The concert is free and open to the public. For details, visit www.hartsvillecivicchorale.org
