Freestyle Music Park announces new investors

»  Comments | Post a Comment

MYRTLE BEACH -- Freestyle Music Park announced Friday that it has a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between FPI MB Entertainment LLC (FPI MBE) and new investors.

According to Freestyle Music Park’s President Steve Baker, with the exception of some improvements, there are no plans of any changes to the park at this time. Baker added that the park’s management had been in negotiations with the potential investors for several weeks.

“This is positive news for the park and the Grand Strand community. We appreciate everyone who worked with us throughout our first season. In my view, this investment solidifies the long-term future of the park,” Baker said. “The MOU requires all existing financial obligations must be satisfied prior to the closing of the transaction, which is planned for December.”

At this time, plans call for Freestyle Music Park to reopen in spring 2010.

Baker noted that this is the first year that the park has operated year-round and cited two examples of behind the scenes work that will be done to prepare the park for opening in 2010. During the winter, state and manufacturer mandated maintenance will be done on the rides and throughout the park. Marketing and sales initiatives are underway in preparation for reopening this spring. He added that the park may incur some additional seasonal layoffs, which are typical in the theme park industry, but that these are expected to be brief.
