“Owning a spa is what I always wanted to do,” said Rene Wallace, massage therapist and owner of Golden Oaks Day Spa, which held a grand opening on Thursday.
As part of the celebration, there was a ribbon cutting by Mayor Mel Pennington, drawings for a massage, facial and a spa package, food, drink and product samples.
Wallace’s business was originally part of Salon Indigo. She recently got the opportunity to purchase that side of the business. The spa will remain in the same location at 115 N. Fifth St. beside Juice.
Golden Oaks employs four people. One of those employees is esthetician Brianna Douglass. She does facials, microderm abrasions and chemical peels.
The spa also offers massage, wraps, facials, hot stone massage, pedicures, manicures and even teeth whitening. In the back of the spa, there is a relaxation room with comfy chairs and soft light. The renovated downtown building features exposed brick and private rooms for individualized service.
After living in Raleigh for 12 years, Wallace came home to South Carolina on a break, met her husband Paul and moved to Hartsville. Together the couple has two children, Brett and Reagan.
