W. Crawford Moore Jr. of Cheraw has been appointed to the McLeod Health Board of Trustees representing Chesterfield County. He fills the board seat left vacant by the death of M.L. Koontz in December, McLeod Health President and CEO Rob Colones said.
Raised in Cheraw, Moore graduated from Cheraw High School and The Citadel with a degree in business. After six years on active duty with the Air Force as a KC-135 Air Refueling Navigator, he and his family moved back to Cheraw where he worked in the family business, BC Moore & Sons, while continuing his career in the Air Force Reserve. Moore is a lieutenant colonel with the 916th Air Refueling Wing.
A retired vice president of BC Moore & Sons, Moore is co-owner of Pee Dee Direct LLC, Raw Town Coffee LLC and The Flying Shamrock. He has served as president of the Cheraw Kiwanis Club, Chairman of the Greater Cheraw Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the Cheraw High School Improvement Council. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the Cheraw Rotary Club, The Citadel Alumni Association and the Charlotte Regional Partnership. He is a life member of the American Veterans Association and the Reserve Officers Association, and is a Chesterfield County Council member. He serves as the council’s finance chairman and as a mentor at Cheraw Intermediate School. Moore resides in Cheraw with his wife Janice and has two daughters, Katie and Becky.
All business and affairs of McLeod Health are managed under the direction of its 20-member Board of Trustees. The board consists of representation from the Florence, Darlington, Dillon, Marion, Marlboro and Chesterfield counties.
