The Eastern Carolina Community Foundation has announced its five newest Board of Trustees members.
Elisabeth McNiel, a Bennettsville native, is the comptroller of Marlboro Publishing Co., Inc. She serves as chairwoman of The Kinney Foundation, secretary of the Whipple Foundation and treasurer of the Marlboro Civic Center Foundation. She is a graduate of Converse College and a past Alumnae Board executive committee member. She also is a member of the Wachovia Pee Dee Advisory Board, past president and active member of the Rotary Club of Bennettsville. She and her husband, Dan, have three children.
Mike Griffey is the owner of Abingdon Manor Country Inn and Restaurant in Latta. He and his wife, Patty, moved to Latta in 1995 from Miami. He has a Bachelor of Arts from Florida State University and a Master of Public Administration from Florida International University. He has 25 years of experience in human services in the public, not-for-profit, and private sectors. He was a founding board member of the Coral Gables Community Foundation. In Latta, he has served as chairman of the Latta Revitalization Commission and is a member of the Progress Energy Community Advising Committee.
Dr. Paul DeMarco lives in Marion and is the director of Rural Community Health at Francis Marion University. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He is a board member of the Mercy Medicine Free Clinic in Florence, a member of the Durant Children’s Center Medical Advisory Board, and a charter member of Marion County Habitat for Humanity, on whose board he has served since 1994. He served on the Marion School District 1 Board of Education from 2003-2009. He and his wife, Debbie, have two children.
Cooper Jordan and his wife, Angela, live in Dillon. He is the vice president and owner of the Herald Group. He is a lifelong resident of Dillon and has four children. He has a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from The Citadel, is a member of the Dillon Rotary Club, and serves on the finance committee at Main Street United Methodist Church.
John M. Scott III is an attorney at Turner, Padget, Graham & Laney PA in Florence. He has a Bachelor of Arts in history from the South Carolina Honors College, a juris doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law and a Master of Laws in taxation from the New York University School of Law. He serves as vice chairman of the Florence Downtown Design Review Board, is a member of the McLeod Health Foundation Professional Advisory Council and the Florence Kiwanis Club Board of Directors. He is a graduate of the Leadership Florence program and a former member of the S.C. Uniform Trust Code Reporter Committee. John and his wife, Ashley, have a son.
