NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — The new owners of the former Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach are working to open next month with a new name.

But a smaller park hopes to open this summer in North Myrtle Beach.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reported the park would include a Ferris wheel, kiddie rides and a roller coaster and could open as soon as Aug. 1.

The attraction is planned by Mark Lazarus, owner of Wild Water & Wheels in Surfside Beach and H.G. Worley, who owns land on Ocean Boulevard in North Myrtle Beach.

The park hasn't been named yet. Admission would be free and visitors would pay per ride.

Lazarus says the park would operate through Labor Day and would have a full season next year.

In Myrtle Beach, FPI MB Entertainment LLC plans to open the old 55-acre Hard Rock Park on Memorial Day as Freestyle Music Park.
