FLORENCE — Pete Bowman will assume the leadership role of CEO for HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Florence in October.
Bowman has served as CEO at Lake City Community Hospital since 1999.
“We are delighted to have someone of Pete’s experience and solid reputation join our hospital,” James Rogers, vice president for HealthSouth in South Carolina, said in a press release. “Pete has lived in the Pee Dee for the past 10 years and brings many positive professional and personal relationships with him. He is just the person we need to carry our hospital forward.”
Bowman is a native of Charleston. He obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration from The Citadel and master’s degree in health-care administration from the University of South Carolina. He has more than 35 years of health-care experience and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
A veteran of the armed services, he served as an officer in the Air Force and, as a pilot, flew combat missions in Vietnam. He is married to the former Corliss Mock of Florence, who is a registered nurse.
HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Florence is an 88-bed acute rehabilitation hospital that has served the community for more than two decades. It provides inpatient and outpatient services for those recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord injury, neurological disorders, cardiac disease, amputations and pulmonary disease.
The hospital is supported by two board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians, Dr. Stephan Parker and Dr. Adora Matthews, who serves as the hospital’s medical director.
