Dierdre Young joins McQueen practice

Dr. Dierdre Young, board certified in internal medicine, has joined the practice of Dr. Fred McQueen in Hamlet, N.C.

A native of Florence, Young is a 1997 graduate of Francis Marion University, having earned a Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in chemistry. She attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she completed the Minority Medical Education Program. In 2003, she received her Doctor of Medicine from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Young completed further clinical training at Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle, N.Y., and at New York Medical College in New York, N.Y. In July 2007, she finished a three-year internal medicine program at North General Hospital in New York.

Young speaks fluent Spanish and served as a hospice volunteer in Florence for more than 10 years.
